WESTLANDS: CINEMA OBSCURA:NOCHE DE COMEDIA 28TH September

Cinema Obscura screens entertaining feature length indie films about creative obsession, unusual artists, performers, craftsmen, outsiders, and the act of making things. The film selection is heavily weighted toward performing arts, stage comedy, humor and documentary. However, pictures about visual artists and musicians and fiction films made by cross-genre directors are in the line-up. We will not release the full list of films ahead of time. Art is often best experienced without expectations. However, we will be glad to respond to inquiries in the comments in reference to the immediate upcoming Monday’s film title. We will post a list of previous screened pictures as we go. This is an “industry” night where creatives from all sectors may expect to see cinematic reflections of their own internal or external pursuits on screen. There will be films that are “not my type” but there is some degree of certainty that all of the films will inspire your own creativity or cause you to wrestle with an idea alone or with or against a friend on your ride home. Normies and independent movie buffs are also welcome. By the end of the year you will have seen films about, or made by a magician, a road comic, a faith healer, a cartoonist, and a video editor computer genius - as well as uncomfortable feature films about clowning, trauma, jazz, and jews. It is our expectation that every Monday 80% of our audience will leave feeling creatively enriched and inspired, and another 15% will feel completely ripped off, (even though the screening is free), and 6% will wonder where the other one percent came from. Some guided discussion may spontaneously occur before and after each film. Come. Let’s have a good time.
